Every solar installation needs a path from the roof to the switchboard: cable entries, conduit penetrations and, on metal and flat roofs, fixings that pass through the roof surface. Done well, these points stay watertight for the life of the system. Done poorly, they are a common cause of leaks after installation, often showing up months later as a stained ceiling.
Waterproofing starts from $390 per roof. This is an indicative starting price; the final price depends on the roof type, the number of penetrations, membrane condition, the area to be treated and access.

We trace the likely source, which is often a cable entry, a cracked tile near a mounting bracket or a failed sealant joint, and quote the repair in writing. Where a leak comes from damaged roofing rather than the solar installation, we tell you so you can arrange the right trade.
Flat roofs need extra care because water sits on them. We favour mounting methods that keep penetrations to a minimum, such as ballasted frames where the structure and wind engineering allow, or use fixings with purpose-made flashings compatible with the membrane. Every penetration is sealed with compatible materials, and frames are positioned so water still drains freely.
It can, particularly on newer membrane roofs or metal roofs still under a manufacturer or builder warranty. Some warranties set conditions for penetrations or approved products. Check your documents before installation and tell us what they require; we plan fixings and flashings to suit where possible, and the builder's approval may be needed.
Correctly installed flashings and compatible sealants commonly last many years, but roofs move, and UV and heat take their toll on any sealant. We suggest having penetrations checked during routine system inspections, especially after major storms. Those checks should be done by trained people with safety equipment, never by climbing onto the roof yourself.
