We coordinate the meter exchange or reconfiguration with your retailer and its metering coordinator after solar, battery or three-phase work, and follow it up until it is done.
$199 (Per property), including GST.
After new solar, a battery or a three-phase upgrade, your property usually needs a compatible smart meter, or an existing smart meter reconfigured, so that energy exported to the grid is measured and credited correctly. Meters are arranged by your electricity retailer through a metering coordinator, not by the installer. This step is easy to lose track of, and until it is complete your export may not be recorded or credited, and in some cases your system cannot be set to export at all.
Our metering coordination fee is $199 per property. Unlike our indicative installation prices, this is a fixed fee, confirmed in your quote. It covers the paperwork, communication and follow-up; the meter itself is provided by the metering coordinator your retailer appoints.
Metering involves several parties: the network, your retailer, the metering coordinator and the installer, and delays often happen in the gaps between them. We know what each party needs, lodge it correctly the first time, and keep following up until the job is done, so you are not left making calls or wondering why your export is not showing on your bill. The compliance paperwork is completed by our licensed electricians for the work they carried out, which is what the retailer needs before it can raise the metering request.
Customers completing solar, battery or three-phase work who want the metering paperwork and follow-up handled for them.
Who does what: your retailer appoints a metering coordinator, who owns and installs the revenue meter. We cannot install or alter that meter ourselves, but we prepare everything so the request moves quickly.
Timing: exchange timing is set by the retailer and its metering provider, and it varies. Your tariff may also change when the meter changes, so check your plan.
Retailer charges: some retailers charge for a meter exchange or reconfiguration. Those charges are separate from our fee and appear on your electricity bill.
Feed-in: NSW feed-in tariffs are commonly a few cents per kWh, far below the price of grid electricity, so using your solar at home matters more than export credits.
1. Add metering coordination to your solar, battery or three-phase quote.
2. We confirm your retailer, NMI and meter details before installation.
3. After the work is completed, our licensed electricians lodge the compliance paperwork.
4. We raise the meter request through your retailer and follow it up.
5. The metering coordinator completes the exchange or reconfiguration, and we confirm your system is exporting.
The fee covers coordination, paperwork and follow-up for one property and one metering request.
Meter exchange timing is controlled by your retailer and its metering coordinator.
Any retailer or metering charges are separate and billed by your retailer.
Safe access to the meter must be available on the scheduled day.
