Upgrade your property from single-phase to three-phase power for larger solar systems, faster EV charging and heavy loads, with the network application and meter change coordinated.
From $3,490 (Per property), including GST. Indicative starting price: the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment.
Most Australian homes have a single-phase power supply, which is fine for everyday use. Three-phase power delivers electricity over three active conductors, allowing more total capacity and better balancing of large loads. It can make sense when you plan a large solar system, an 11 kW or 22 kW EV charger, several air-conditioners, a pool heat pump or workshop machinery, but it is not a necessary upgrade for every home.
A single-phase to three-phase upgrade starts from $3,490 per property. This is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment and once the network's requirements are known.
Three-phase upgrades vary more than almost any other electrical job, because the cost depends on what already exists in the street. If three-phase is available at the pole or pit, the work can be straightforward. If not, the network may require street works that add cost and time. We find this out before you commit, explain it plainly, and tell you when an alternative such as a 7 kW charger, export-limited solar or load management would meet your goals for less.
Homes and businesses planning large solar, fast EV charging or heavy equipment that a single-phase supply cannot support well.
When it is worth it: networks limit how much inverter capacity and export a single-phase connection can have, so three-phase suits larger solar systems. It also enables 11 kW or 22 kW AC charging and suits properties with heavy motor loads.
Approvals and parties: your local network must approve the change, your retailer arranges the meter exchange through its metering provider, and connection work on the network side is carried out by an accredited service provider. Each step has its own timeframe.
Price drivers: distance from the pole or pit, overhead or underground supply, trenching, switchboard condition, and any street works or network fees.
1. Request an assessment and tell us what you want three-phase power for.
2. We inspect your supply, switchboard and loads and check network availability.
3. You receive our advice and a fixed-price quote, noting any network requirements.
4. Once you accept, we lodge the network application and coordinate approvals.
5. Our licensed electricians complete the mains and switchboard work, with network connection by an accredited service provider.
6. Your retailer's metering provider installs the three-phase meter and the new supply is energised.
The price shown is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment and quote.
The upgrade is subject to network approval, and any network fees or street works are quoted separately.
Meter exchange timing is set by your retailer and its metering provider.
Trenching, long mains runs or switchboard replacement identified at assessment are quoted separately.
Power is interrupted during the changeover on the scheduled day.
