A battery of 200 kWh or more is a significant capital investment, and its value depends on several benefits working together: reducing demand charges, storing surplus solar, shifting energy away from peak tariffs and any incentives that apply. Our Large-Scale Battery Feasibility study tests each of those against your real data and site conditions, and sets out a business case your finance team can scrutinise.

The study is priced from $2,990 per site as an indicative starting price, confirmed in writing once we have reviewed your data and site.

What's included

  • Analysis of 12 months of interval data, including peaks, baseload and solar export
  • Network tariff and demand charge review, with the value of peak reduction
  • Battery sizing options by energy capacity and power rating
  • Dispatch modelling for demand reduction, solar shifting and time-of-use savings
  • NSW business battery incentive review for the proposed system
  • Grid connection review: likely network requirements, export limits and protection
  • Site review of the switchboard, battery location, ventilation, fire separation and access
  • Business case with indicative capital cost, annual savings, payback and sensitivity analysis

Why Blue Energy Solar

We design commercial systems around interval data first, because a battery sized to a round number or to available floor space does not always deliver the best return. We install commercial batteries and hybrid inverters from Sigenergy, GoodWe, Fox ESS and Sungrow, so costs in the business case reflect equipment we would actually install. Our installers are SAA-accredited and all electrical work is done by our licensed electricians.

Recommended for

Commercial and industrial sites with high demand charges or large solar systems that are considering a battery of 200 kWh or more.

From 1 September 2026, NSW offers incentives for eligible business batteries up to large commercial and industrial scale, and NSW indicates around 30-40% of battery installation cost for eligible combined solar-and-battery installations, depending on circumstances. The value is set by the certificate market, so confirm it on the official NSW page before signing.

Large batteries usually need a detailed network connection application, and the network may require protection settings, export limits or studies that affect cost and timing. Payback depends on your tariff, operating patterns, battery performance and future prices. Blue Energy Solar holds $20 million public liability cover.

Directions

1. Request the study and send us 12 months of interval data, bills and any solar monitoring data.
2. We confirm the scope and fixed price in writing and schedule a site visit.
3. Our team inspects the switchboard, possible battery locations and the connection point.
4. We model battery sizes, dispatch strategies, incentives and connection requirements.
5. You receive the business case and we present it to your management or finance team.

Warnings

The price shown is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after we review your data and site.
The study needs 12 months of interval data; less data reduces the reliability of the results.
Savings, payback and incentive figures are estimates and are not guaranteed.
Installation is subject to network approval, may need council approval and is quoted separately after detailed design.
Network connection requirements in the report are indicative until the network responds to a formal application.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no simple rule of thumb for large sites. The right size depends on how high and how long your demand peaks are, how much solar you export, your tariff structure and your budget. The study models several sizes and power ratings against your interval data, so you can see where extra capacity stops adding value.

Sometimes, where demand charges or time-of-use price differences are large enough. Without solar, the battery charges from the grid in cheaper periods and discharges at peaks. NSW indicates around 30-40% of battery installation cost for eligible combined solar-and-battery installations, so the study compares battery-only and combined scenarios where relevant.

It varies with system size, the local network and whether the network requests additional studies or protection equipment. Large systems can take several months from application to approval. The feasibility study identifies likely requirements early, so they can be built into the project timeline and budget rather than discovered after equipment is ordered.

LFP batteries are commonly warranted for around 10 years, often with a minimum retained capacity or an energy throughput limit. Terms vary by product and application, so the business case uses the warranty conditions of the specific equipment modelled, and we provide the exact terms in any installation quote.
