Electrifying a fleet changes how a depot uses energy. Instead of refuelling on the road, vehicles return to base and charge, often all at once at the end of a shift. Without planning, that can overload the supply and push up demand charges. Fleet EV charging is designed around your operations: which vehicles return when, how far they travel, and when they must be ready to leave again.

A depot starter system begins from $19,900 installed. This is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment, supply study and proposal.

What's included

  • Review of vehicle types, routes, dwell times and shift patterns
  • A supply capacity study and maximum demand assessment
  • Selection of AC chargers, with DC options where turnaround times require them
  • Smart charging schedules and load management across all chargers
  • Integration options with existing or new solar and battery storage
  • Reporting on energy use per vehicle, charger and period
  • Installation and commissioning, with electrical work by our licensed electricians

Why Blue Energy Solar

Fleet charging is an energy project, not just a charger order. We model how your vehicles actually operate, then design charging that has every vehicle ready on time while keeping peak demand under control. Because we also install solar and batteries, including Sigenergy, GoodWe, Fox ESS and Sungrow systems, we can look at the whole depot: daytime solar for vehicles parked during the day, batteries to limit demand peaks, and staged expansion as more of the fleet goes electric. After go-live, we review how charging performs and fine-tune the schedules.

Recommended for

Businesses moving delivery, service or pool vehicles to electric that need reliable overnight or between-shift charging at a depot.

Demand charges: uncontrolled charging when vehicles return can create new demand peaks. Scheduling and load management spread charging over the time available.

Incentives: from 1 September 2026, NSW business battery incentives apply to eligible business batteries from 20 kWh up to large commercial and industrial scale, which may help where a battery supports depot charging. Check current details on the official NSW business pages.

Approvals: supply upgrades need network approval, and leased depots need landlord consent.

Price drivers: number and type of chargers, supply works, trenching, software and integration. We hold $20 million public liability cover.

Directions

1. Request a proposal and share fleet details, shift patterns and depot plans.
2. We study supply capacity and model charging needs across a typical week.
3. You receive a design, staging plan and fixed-price proposal.
4. Once accepted, we lodge any network applications and schedule works around operations.
5. We install and commission the chargers, load management and reporting.
6. We review charging performance after go-live and adjust schedules if needed.

Warnings

The price shown is an indicative starting price for a depot starter system; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment and proposal.
Supply upgrades require network approval and are quoted separately.
Leased depots require written landlord consent before works start.
Software platforms and data services may carry ongoing subscription terms.
Incentives depend on eligibility and program rules at the time of installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fleets that park overnight or for several hours can usually use AC chargers, which cost far less to install and are easier on the supply. DC charging makes sense where vehicles have short turnarounds between shifts or very long daily routes. A common mix is mostly AC chargers with one or two DC units for the exceptions.

The management software knows when each vehicle is due to leave and how much charge it needs. It spreads charging across the time the vehicles are parked, prioritises vehicles leaving first, and keeps total demand below a set limit. Schedules can also favour cheaper tariff periods or times when solar is producing.

Yes. The starter system is designed with spare switchboard capacity, cable routes and software licences planned for more chargers. As more vehicles go electric, chargers can be added in stages without rebuilding the depot's infrastructure. We map out likely stages in the proposal so budgets can be planned well ahead.

Reports typically show energy delivered per vehicle, charger and driver or card, along with charging times and costs by period. This supports cost allocation and budgeting, and helps identify vehicles that are not charging as expected. Data can usually be exported for use in your fleet or accounting systems.
