A building-wide EV charging backbone of cable or busway that brings power close to every parking bay, so any resident can add a charger later, with load management built in.
From $1,190 (Per parking bay), including GST. Indicative starting price: the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment.
As more residents buy electric vehicles, apartment buildings face a choice: approve individual charger installations one at a time, with cables running in every direction, or plan once for the whole car park. An EV charging backbone is the planned approach. A cable or busway system runs through the car park with connection points near each bay, supplied from a dedicated board and controlled by load management, so any resident can add a charger later with a short, simple connection.
A backbone starts from $1,190 per parking bay. This is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment, supply study and proposal for the owners corporation.
A backbone is shared infrastructure that should serve the building for decades, so we design it with future uptake in mind rather than today's handful of EVs. Load management allows many chargers to share the existing supply, which often avoids or delays an expensive supply upgrade. We give committees clear options, including staging the work by car park level, and we coordinate with the strata manager on access, fire safety requirements and notices to residents so the project runs smoothly.
Owners corporations planning fair, future-ready EV charging access for every resident in an apartment building.
Approval: a backbone on common property requires an owners corporation resolution. A by-law usually sets out how residents connect chargers and pay for their electricity.
Supply: the backbone uses the building's spare capacity. Load management shares it between chargers, which means charging may slow at peak times.
Batteries: NSW apartment building battery incentives from 1 September 2026 apply to eligible buildings with at least 4 units and shared batteries of 20-200 kWh usable capacity, which may be worth considering alongside EV charging.
Price drivers: the number of bays, car park layout, fire-rated penetrations, cable versus busway, switchboard works and staging.
1. The committee or strata manager requests an assessment and shares building plans.
2. We study supply capacity and survey the car park.
3. You receive a backbone design, staging options and a fixed-price proposal.
4. The owners corporation considers the proposal and passes the required resolution.
5. We install the backbone, distribution board and load management in agreed stages.
6. Residents can then request individual chargers that connect to the backbone.
The price shown is an indicative starting price per bay; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment and proposal.
Works start only after the owners corporation passes the required resolution and provides written authorisation.
Supply upgrades, if needed, require network approval and are quoted separately.
Individual chargers are not included and are quoted per bay.
Fire safety requirements for penetrations and car park works must be met and may affect cost.
