Verified incentive facts. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program offers roughly 30% off the installed cost of a battery installed with solar, at approximately $272 per kWh for the first 14 kWh, $163 per kWh from 14 to 28 kWh and $41 per kWh from 28 to 50 kWh, stepping down every 1 January and 1 July to 2030. The NSW household battery installation incentive has been suspended since 30 June 2025. From 1 July 2026, NSW offers up to $1,000 for connecting an existing battery to a VPP.
As a published guide, a 10 kWh battery in Sydney is $8,000-$11,000 after the federal discount, confirmed after a site assessment. Confirm current incentive values on the official pages before signing.
