Add panels to an existing system or replace an old, undersized one, with inverter capacity, network approval and STC eligibility of the new capacity checked properly before any work starts.
From $2,990 (Per upgrade, installed), including GST. Indicative starting price: the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment.
Many older home solar systems are small by today's standards. Since they were installed, households have added air-conditioning, pool pumps, home offices and electric vehicles, and an early system may now cover only a small share of daytime use. An upgrade lets you add panels to your current system or replace it with a larger, more efficient one, so you use more of your own solar and buy less electricity from the grid.
Upgrades start from $2,990 installed. This is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after we inspect your existing system and roof.
An upgrade is only worthwhile if the old and new parts work together safely. Panels of different ages and ratings generally should not be mixed on the same string, and older inverters may not meet current grid connection standards or have room for more panels. We check all of this in person before recommending anything. Sometimes the better answer is a new hybrid inverter from GoodWe, Fox ESS, Sungrow or Sigenergy that runs the whole array and is ready for a battery. If your current system is still sound and simply needs more panels, we will tell you that too, and design the addition so it fits neatly with what you already have.
Homeowners whose older or smaller solar system no longer covers their household's daytime electricity use.
STCs on upgrades: the STC discount can apply only to eligible new capacity, not to panels that already created certificates when they were first installed. Certificate values step down each 1 January and the scheme runs to 2030, so confirm current values on the official pages before signing.
Approvals: increasing your system size needs approval from your local electricity network, which may set an export limit. Some older inverters must be replaced to meet current connection rules.
What affects the price: the number of panels added, whether a new inverter is needed, roof access and pitch, and the condition of the existing wiring and switchboard.
1. Request an upgrade assessment and share recent electricity bills.
2. We inspect your existing system, roof space and switchboard on site.
3. You receive written options to extend or replace, each with a fixed price.
4. Once you accept, we lodge the network application for the new system size.
5. Our installers complete the upgrade, test the whole system and update your monitoring.
The price shown is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment and quote.
Work proceeds only after your local network approves the increased system size, and an export limit may apply.
The STC discount applies only to eligible new capacity and depends on the certificate value at installation.
Faults or unsafe items found in the existing system must be rectified first and are quoted separately.
Changes to an existing system can affect the original installer's workmanship warranty; we explain this before work starts.
