Poor power quality can cause problems that are hard to trace: drives and controllers tripping without warning, motors and transformers running hot, lights flickering, capacitors failing early, or a demand charge inflated by poor power factor. Our Power Quality Analysis measures what is really happening on your supply over a full week and explains the causes and fixes in practical terms.

The analysis is priced from $1,990 for 7-day logging and a report, as an indicative starting price confirmed in writing after we review the site.

What's included

  • Pre-visit review of the problem, the single-line diagram, main loads and any fault history
  • Installation of a power quality logger at the main switchboard or an agreed point by our licensed electricians
  • Seven days of continuous logging across normal operating periods
  • Analysis of harmonics, voltage sags and swells, flicker, power factor and phase imbalance
  • Correlation of recorded events with equipment operation and reported problems
  • Recommendations such as harmonic filtering, power factor correction, load rebalancing or equipment settings
  • A written report with charts and a plain-English summary

Why Blue Energy Solar

Power quality matters more as sites add inverters, variable speed drives, EV chargers and batteries, all of which interact with the supply. Our licensed electricians install and remove the logger safely around your operations, and our recommendations consider how any solar, battery or EV charging plans will affect the site. The report explains which issues need action now, which can wait and which are within normal limits.

Recommended for

Industrial and commercial sites with unexplained equipment trips, overheating, flickering lights, poor power factor or plans for large new loads.

Some power quality problems originate on the network rather than inside your site. If the logging suggests that, the report sets out the evidence so you can raise it with your network. Others come from your own equipment and can often be improved with filtering, correction or changes to settings.

A week of logging captures typical operation but may miss rare events. If a problem only occurs occasionally, longer logging or several logging points may be needed, which affects the price. Recommended works are quoted separately.

Directions

1. Request the analysis and describe the problems, equipment and any fault history.
2. We confirm the logging point, scope and fixed price in writing.
3. Our licensed electricians install the logger under safe work procedures.
4. The logger records seven days of normal operation and is then removed.
5. We analyse the data and correlate events with site operations.
6. You receive the report and we walk your team through the recommendations.

Warnings

The price shown is an indicative starting price for one logging point over 7 days; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing.
The site must provide safe switchboard access and any required inductions.
Where a connection needs a brief shutdown, it is scheduled with the site in advance.
Logging reflects the monitored period; intermittent events outside it may not be captured.
Recommended works, such as power factor correction or filtering, are quoted separately and may need network approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common examples include nuisance tripping of drives or protection devices, overheating motors, cables or transformers, flickering lights, failed capacitors, electronics resetting and high kVA demand charges. The analysis links these symptoms to measured events such as harmonics, voltage sags, imbalance or poor power factor, so fixes target the actual cause.

A week covers a full cycle of weekday and weekend operation for most sites, including shift changes, start-ups and shutdowns. Shorter logging can miss the conditions that cause problems. If your issue is linked to a particular process or season, we may recommend a longer logging period or a second logging point.

Usually not. Many loggers use clamp-on current sensors and voltage connections that our licensed electricians can fit under safe work procedures. Where a safe connection needs a short shutdown, we schedule it with you in advance, for example during a break or before operations start for the day.

It is worthwhile if the site already has problems such as tripping or high harmonics, or has many variable speed drives. Solar inverters, batteries and EV chargers must operate within supply limits, so knowing the existing condition helps design the system correctly and avoids new equipment being blamed for pre-existing issues.
