Common-property electricity is one of the steadier costs in an apartment building. Lifts, car park lighting and ventilation, pumps, intercoms and security systems run day and night. A shared battery stores energy from the building's solar, or from lower-cost periods where the tariff allows, and uses it for those loads when power is more expensive. Where it is designed for backup, it can also keep selected common-property circuits running during an outage.

NSW apartment building battery incentives: from 1 September 2026, eligible apartment buildings with at least 4 units can access incentives for shared batteries of 20-200 kWh usable capacity. A larger incentive applies when qualifying new or additional solar is installed in the required period. Check current details on the official NSW pages before the owners corporation commits.
Approval: installing a battery on common property requires an owners corporation resolution, and the chosen location may need a fire safety review.
Price drivers: capacity, battery location and enclosure, fire protection, switchboard and metering changes, backup requirements and whether new solar is included. We hold $20 million public liability cover.
1. The committee or strata manager requests an assessment and shares common-property bills.
2. We inspect the site, review loads and existing solar, and identify compliant battery locations.
3. You receive a design, incentive guidance and a fixed-price proposal for owners.
4. The owners corporation considers the proposal and passes the required resolution.
5. We lodge the network application, then install, commission and monitor the system.
